strange request, coupled ..
with the fact,

for several days
this
past, various officers and men of
Corvette have, in two hired stearn
launches, been exploring both sides of
this anchorage in a unmistakeable
very
manner, evidently taking observations of this, that, and other; and I am
not at all sure that this "lighting
up" may not have sornething to do
with the expected results arrived at.
