SIR,
I am directed by the Field Marshal Commanding-in-Chief to acknowledge
the receipt of your Letter of the 18th instant, and to acquaint you in reply that
your retirement will be notified in to-morrow night's Gazette; the rate of ;
your retired pay will be £300 per annum, on the understanding, however, that no portion of such retired pay will be drawn while you hold any Colonial appoint-
ment.
