SIR,
With reference to your letter of the 28th ultimo addressed to the Under Secretary of State for War, I am directed by the Field-Marshal Comanding-in- Chief to acquaint you that there is no objection to your being granted retired pay at £200 per annum which, subject to Treasury sanction, you can draw not- withstanding your holding a Colonial appointment, on the condition, however, that if you draw it the rate cannot subsequently be increased. Your retirement on £200 a year will, therefore, be shortly submited to Her Majesty, and the requisite notification will appear in an early Gazette.
