The Honourable the Attorney General, (EDWARD Loughlin ('MALLEY).

The Committee meets this day according to summons.

The Minutes of the last Meeting are read and confirmed.

Read a Minute by His Excellency the Governor recommending a vote of $180, being an increase to the salary of the Steward and Storekeeper at the Civil Hospital ($10 per month after 1st year, and $20 per month after 2nd year), from 1st September to 31st August, 1885, at $10 per month, and from 1st September to 30th November, 1885, at $20 per mouth.

1501 of 1884.

The Committee recommend that in view of the strong opinion expressed by the Super- intendent of the Civil Hospital (Dr. WHARRY), that the salary of the Steward and Storekeeper should be raised in order to obtain a reliable and capable man, the vote should be approved.

Read a Minute by His Excellency the Governor recommending a vote of $820.30, being the amount due to those Members of the Police Force, who have accepted the increase of pay under the new regulations as to term of service for pension and remittances to England.

The Committee recommend that as this is a re-vote, the amount recommended should be approved.

Read a Minute by His Excellency the Governor recommending a vote of $815.53, being the debit balance of the Lock Hospital account for the year 1884.

The Committee recommend that the vote should be approved.

Read a Minute by His Excellency the Governor recommending the building of quarters for the First Assistant at the Kaulung Observatory.

The Committee recommend that the vote of $500 required for building the house should be approved, which will be more economical than paying as at present $30 per month for

quarters,

Read a Minute by His Excellency the Governor recommending a vote of $170, being the increase to the salary of the Matron of the Lock Hospital from $30 to $40 per month, from 1st July to 30th November 1884 ($50), and from the 1st December, 1884 to 30th November 1885,

($120).
