PRIZE PAY AT THE CENTRAL SCHOOL.
The annual distribution of prizes at the Cen- tral School took place yesterday morning. His Excellency the Governor presided. There was a large number of visitors prosent, amongst whom were Captain Lewis, A.D.C., the Right Rev. Bishop Bardon, Hon. W.H. Marsh, C.M.C., Hon. A. Lister, Hon. F. Stewart, Hou. Wong Shing, Mr. A. G. Romano (Portuguese Consul), Mr. S. Machida (Japanese Consul), Rev. W. Jennings, Rer. R. Lechler, Rev. O. Chesnutt, Mr. E. J. Ackroyd, and a number of ladies.
Mr. J. BATESON WRIGHT, M.A, the Head Master, opened the proceedings by saying-Your Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, the past year will be a memorable one in the annals of this school. Three events that cannot reour have taken place in it, namely, the laying of the foundation atone of the new College, the endowment of the Stewart scholarship, and the winning for the first time of the
