REGO 19 DEC 94
Peking, October 15, 1884. I HAVE to report that, on receiving yesterday from the Administrator at Hong "Informant says 3,000 taels sent from Canton to be Kong a telegram stating that employed in destruction of Messageries Maritimes steamers in harbour,” I immediately forwarded the inclosed representation in writing to the Tsung-li Yamên, calling on them to at once take steps to stop the execution of such an atrocious scheme, which, I observed, was clearly the outcome of the Proclamation of the high authorities of Canton of the 15th ultimo.
I have, &c.
(Signed)
HARRY S. PARKES.
