Minute by the Officer Administering the Governmt
There are a number of shops
licensed for the sale of
arms and
gunpowder. It is estimated by the
Police that about 5000 muskets, revolvers to of different Kinds are to be bought in the Chinese part
of the City.
It appears to me that
something should be done immediately to empower the Police to arrest persons carrying
aries,
out of Victoria. There is no law empowering the Police to do this and the Bragistrates discharge all arrested and brought before them.
