Enclosure 2.
Extract from Minutes of the Executive Council held on the 22nd May, 1884
Read a letter from the Registrar of the Supreme Court (Mr Ackroyd) enclosing for transmission to the Secretary of State an application for increase of pay.
The Council advise that Mr. Ackroyd's application should be transmitted to the Secretary of State, but the Council cannot advise the Governor to recommend it to favorable consideration, looking to the terms of Lord Derby's Despatch, No.146 of the 21st July, 1883. The Council observe that a large number of applicants in the several Departments have more than ever exceeded the salary of the foreign clerks heretofore employed and will also suffice to meet the extra salary I now solicit.

Registrar.
