and that the Community at large held the same view: with perhaps, the exception of a very few individuals, who, at the last nomination, desired to secure the support of the official votes for their candidate. However, in deference to Your Lordship's wish, I consulted the Executive Council as to the best mode of bringing this matter before the Colonial Legislature; when it was agreed that this could only be done by resolution. Accordingly, the Attorney General, after due notice, moved the following Resolution:-

That it is expedient that those Justices of the Peace who are also officials of Government should abstain from taking part in the nomination of any Member of the Council who is to be nominated by the Justices of the Peace.
