It will be seen that Bishop Raimondi again prefers a claim for aid from the Colonial Revenue to the Roman Catholic Church, such as has been given to the Anglican Church; but of which the Secretary of State for the Colonies has directed the withdrawal in the future on the falling in of certain vested interests.

It may be convenient to give here a brief review of the previous correspondence on this subject, and of the letter now forwarded by Bishop Raimondi.

It appears that, on the 22nd March, 1875, the Rev. S. Borgazzi, then a prominent member of the Roman Catholic Mission here, addressed a letter to the Colonial Secretary, in which he submitted that, in view of the regular and satisfactory manner in which for over twenty years the Roman Catholic Mission had supplied...
