2. Enclosed is the despatch from the
Secretary of State for the Colonies, dated November 27, 1882, giving instructions for the introduction of a Medical Registration Ordinance in
Hong Kong.
It is stated, 'It would be advisable that the Governor or Board to be entrusted with selecting those foreign or Colonial Diplomas
which are to be considered sufficient to qualify
a medical man for registration, should consult the Medical Council
(in England) in such matters in order to maintain uniformity between the Colony and the Mother Country.'
3. The Colonial Surgeon is requested to forward
all future communications with the Medical Council in England, for the above and other purposes. Copies of the new Ordinance and of this despatch
should be communicated to the Medical Council.
