The Colonial Surgeon (Dr Ayres) from his connection with the Government, is, of course, entitled to a seat, while it appears only right that the local professional practitioners should have one representative, and, among such practitioners, Dr Hartigan holds the foremost place. As to the imputations made by Mr. Francis, acting as Counsel to Dr Fisher, it may be pointed out that all the Doctors in the Colony, with the single exception of Dr Fisher, signed the memorial praying for a Medical Registration Ordinance; and that it would therefore be impossible to find any medical man here who was not in a measure opposed to Dr. Fisher. The action taken with respect to that gentleman alluded to by Mr. Francis was, I understand, approved of by the whole medical profession here, and the prominent position taken up by Dr Ayres and Dr Hartigan in the investigation due to their prominent professional position.
