it desirable that

arezv badet should be appointed

this

year. Mr Stewart Lockhart giving great satisfaction

as assistant Colonial

Secretary and Auditor General,

and as the Head of the Despatch

branch

of the Department.

Mr. Mitchell Innes

will

soon complete his period

of study, and will then be

temporarily employed in

the office of

the Colonial Secretary

and

the Registrar

General. There remain

Mr May and Mr Smith

whose services will not

be available here,

the first for nearly two years,

and the second for

three years.

But there is

early prospect of

vacancies in the offices.
