I have accordingly appointed, provisionally,
and subject to confirmation by the Crown, Messrs: Ryrie, Johnson, Sassoon, and Wong Thing, to be unofficial Members
of the Legislative Council, and these gentlemen have taken the customary oath of office. Mr. Jackson will not be sworn in until
the necessary authority shall have been given.

On the arrival of the warrant for the appointment of Mr. Wong Thing, I shall, in pursuance of the advice of the Attorney-General, revoke his provisional appointment, and nominate Mr Jackson, provisionally to the vacancy thus created. It is
presumed that, in that event, no further confirmation will be required in Mr Jackson's case, inasmuch as I shall doubtless receive in due course the confirmation of the appointments reported in my despatch
