22. Medical - A Steam-launch for the Health Officer costing $14,500 was paid during 1889. Otherwise a decrease would have been shown under this heading.
25. Gaol - Decrease in provisions for prisoners and incidental expenses.
26. Fire Brigade - The Sum of $64,410 expended for the conversion of Engine No. 2 into a Floating Engine.
27. Two Pensioners died in the latter part of 1889, one re-entered the Service.
30 + 31. Public Works. Increase caused by the Extraordinary Works on hand, such as Tytam Water Works, Sanitary Works.
32. Lighthouses - Less amount expended in 1889 for repairs.
33. Botanic Gardens - Less expended.
34. Miscellaneous Services. An item of $8,000 paid in 1882 for the Reception of the Princes caused this apparent decrease.
