space required. The destructor top is 12 feet from the ground but the feeding floor around it is made about 3 feet higher to form the destructor head into a kind of ashpit or rubbish receptacle.
I beg also to append for your perusal a Report by Dr Sedgwick Sanders "Disposal of Refuse" - prepared for the Sanitary Committee of the Honourable the Commissioners of Sewers of the City of London (Jan. 25th/80) which contains a good deal of matter regarding the Destructor, and also an extract from the "Sanitary Record" (Oct. 18. 1881) on Disinfecting by Steam.
Trusting that these may commend themselves to your judgment also
I have to
remain,
Yours faithfully,
Henry Callatheron for Matheson & Grant.
