Provision has been made in this year's Estimates for the expenditure, so that no further vote of public money is necessary. I brought this matter before the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council (which is a Committee commonly agreed that the recommendation of the Surveyor General should be carried out forthwith).
I have therefore to request that, if Your Lordship sees no objection, you will be pleased to cause (the Council,) as it appeared only right and proper to consult its members on a subject which not only involves expenditure of public funds, but is also of vital importance to the health of the Community. Its Members unanimously gave good enough instructions to be given to the Crown Agents to comply with the requisition of the Surveyor General with the least possible delay.
I have the honour to be, My Lord, Your Lordship's Most obedient Servant, H.B.Bowen
