Care should be taken that the courts revenue be sent for, as recommended by Mr. Price; if in the meantime there is any reason to be dissatisfied with the manner in which he discharges his duties, it may be proper that he should be replaced, as has been done.
The amount of Public moneys in hand is larger than it has ever been left to the Governor as it is now, to appoint a certain person out of the three Clerks in our office.
The officer selected would be detached for the time from the Public Department and attached to the Treasury. The Governor would then have it in his power to see the end of each transaction and have reason to be dissatisfied with the manner in which it has been done.
