With reference to my despatch with regard to the question whether the Solicitor-General should be left with a private understanding or not, and whether they should act and not in a particular manner, and be one to shock the Secretary of State should lean to the Legislative Council's request to proceed in local matters, I am to state that having regard to the smallness of the place and to the imperial interest in most questions, Lord Derby does not think it would be an advantage in altering the present administrative arrangements.
