But it is also my duty to inform your Lordship that the Report of the House of Commons Committee to which I have referred is only the report of a majority, and that there is also a minority report in absolute antagonism to it which condemns and calls for the repeal of the Contagious Diseases Acts 1866-9 of our own Country.
On the subject of these two antagonistic reports the opinion of the House of Commons is about to be sought. Your Lordship and your colleagues will perhaps be in a better position to judge the amount and strength of opinion on our side of the question, and in the ranks of the party which the present Government represents, after the coming debate in the House of Commons has taken place.
