"We are glad to learn that the Hong Kong Observatory, to which we have frequently adverted, has at last accomplished that Dr. Doberck of Dunsink Observatory has been appointed astronomer by the Secretary for the Colonies.
The opportunities afforded for independent and accurate work in Hong Kong are very great, and we are sure the Observatory will make the most of them. Dr. Doberck is at present attached to the Dunsink Observatory.
He is a man of marked ability and energy, and expects to leave England for Hong Kong early in June. Lord Derby is taking great interest in the new Observatory, and we are glad to learn that he is liberal in making grants for the purchase of instruments."
