I called to see Mr W Scott at the Athenaeum yesterday. He tells me that Mr Liéve is a good man & would be useful though he is at present engaged.
Mr W Scott also mentioned that Mr de Wobach had given but a half-hearted recommendation; I understand that he (de Wobach) had the offer to appoint & offered it to him: Mr W Scott warned me against taking it as a genuine offer.
Bad as it is done, we must wait for the G.O. reply, though from all accounts Mr Figg would be a better man probably than he.
