Director of an observatory, he should receive at least three months' training at Kew and Greenwich Observatories, in order that he may be able to commence his work on his arrival at Hong Kong.

At Hong Kong he will have to attend to the self-recording photographic meteorological apparatus and to the regulation of the clocks. One of his special duties will be to attend to the timeball. He must assist the Government Astronomer in his calculations and see that the entire apparatus is maintained in good working order.
