Being erected at the new observatory, buildings will be constructed for that purpose. I am to request therefore to be informed at what date you will be ready till July. It will be desirable that you should be attached about the mouths for motion to the Observatories at Greenwich and Kew respectively, particularly that you should assist at Kew in the verification of the instruments for the Hong Kong Observatory, sent there for that purpose.
You would be able to proceed to Greenwich or Kew in order that the proper authorities may be communicated with; and the necessary arrangements made.
3. The salary of your appointment will be $2,400 per annum, which will be allowed to commence.
