My Lord,
With reference to the conversation I had with your Lordship yesterday on the subject of telegraphic communication between Hongkong and Canton, I beg to state that what we now desire is, that the Chinese land line Company should connect their system with ours at How-Coon, for the interchange of telegrams between Canton and Hongkong.
