That therefore I think it is advisable my Company should remain untrammelled as far as possible so that the Great Northern Company may not be in a more advantageous position.

I trust Lord Derby will see the force of this argument and not impose any further obligations upon the Company. Of course it is our intention to continue to work under the Rules of the Convention.
