Lieutenant Governor is directed to acquaint you, for the information of the Earl of Derby, that the Secretary of State for War is desirous of obtaining Surveys contoured at Vertical intervals of 5 feet, of several plots
of land at Hong Kong which have been reported upon as sites suitable for the erection of works for the defence of the harbour at that Station.
The following are the sites alluded to. Vizt. Belcher's Point, Stonecutter West, Stonecutter's Island, Green Island, Quarry Point, and the Ground Round North Point and Kowloon Dock Batteries.
I am to enquire whether these Surveys could be undertaken by the Surveyor General.
