RECO
AREGO 14 DEC 83/
Admiralty.
may be laid before the Earl of Derby - My Lords desire to observe that it is necessary for the efficacy of Her Majesty's Service that the
Vessels
of the Squadron should periodically be exercised at sea, which would be
obviously impossible if the wishes of the mercantile Communities of many Ports for the constant presence
of a ship of war at each were complied with.
I am glad that my
Lords are
of opinion that Vice Admiral Sir **...** has shown good judgment
in arranging for the adequate protection of British interests, while duly
exercising the squadron under his command.
