The terms of the Treaty appear to give effect to, in principle, all the main recommendations contained in the dispatch which I had the honour to address to your Lordship on the 20th January last, and to be free from the defects and special disabilities imposed upon British subjects which were marked features of the Treaty previously signed at Seoul on the 6th June 1882 and to which your Lordship's attention was drawn in my former despatch.
