The principal difficulty the Board has had in dealing with this case is the fact that the occupant of the office will be exposed to very great liabilities. The Board therefore considers that it would be advisable to obtain a person of high standing, in whom the Chinese could place implicit confidence and who should be heavily secured.
The Board would suggest reference to the Registrar, several Chinese memorialised the Chamber of Commerce on the subject.
As to the salary of the post, the Board is unanimously agreed that $30 a month should be ample remuneration.
