In reply to Colonial Secretary's letter 25/1825 of the 29th Ultimo, enclosing an extract from Secretary of State's despatch No. 212 of the 9th August, relative to my receiving an increase of salary at once on condition of my re-engaging for five years from the expiration of my present tenure of service, I have the honour to submit that I regret I cannot accept these terms.
