Sir,
Hong Kong 15th Nov

I would venture to suggest that the second assistant at the new Observatory should be appointed from the 14 December proximo.
3. I have the honour to recommend to His Excellency the Governor, Mrs de Salles, who has assisted me in making observations, winding chronometers &c for about four months as a candidate for this post.
3. Mrs de Salles acted for many years as my meteorological observer at Markree Observatory, where she exhibited a talent for local weather forecasting. Her observations are still valuable and printed.
