525 was some time. time acting 277 Master gazetted. To put Mr. back in the Central School May which was Acting 74 Master & Master seems very unfair indeed, it means the degradation of one man four places; the slight injustice of demoting & moving one place each, follows upon restoring to his former place Mr May between the 34 and 40 masters (Mr Arthur and Mr McKinney).
This is simply to restore him to his former position, not to procure promotion for him as consolation. This is surely what every man in the service expects on accepting temporary higher posts.
3. It is impossible to defer the question of Mr May's rank till the new Central School be built, as the rank of a Master affects almost daily business, and is important when acting vacancies occur when seniors in the service go home on leave, besides the unfairness to the other masters restoring Mr. May to his former place would then be all the greater.
