salaries, Mr.

Mr. May cannot well return to the school if this twenty dollars is withdrawn,

512 employment till the new Central School is built, when the question of salary can be more or delimiting as the Chinese boys and masters would consider this a sign of disgrace and degradation; this sum would therefore have to appear as Provisional and temporary. In return for this, I cannot suggest any extra duties at the Central School, but the continuance of assistance in the Educational Department as in past years in checking and compiling Tables for the Annual Report might be viewed as some extra employment.

10. Mr. May could return to the Central School in October, and Mr. Blake should receive notice that his services will be required after October 31st, whether Mr. Parker be then returned or not.

11. The school stock and furniture could be sent to this Department and sent to various Government schools.

I have, &c.

(Signed) Cens. Balfour Acting Inspector
