was started. The consequence has been that some students have been disappointed and anxious to leave the establishment, whilst those that remained have not made the progress that was anticipated. It is confidently expected that in the course of a few days satisfactory provision will be made for the two remaining students of the Normal School.

I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's Most Obedient Humble Servant,
J.M. Maxwell
Administering the Government

RECEIVED
5 NOV 88
Acting Inspector of Schools to Colonial Secretary Education Department

CO 129/258
12th September 1888.

On further consideration of Q.C.O. No. 1374, enquiring about the maintenance of the Normal School, and of Government Order thereon commenting on the expense of this Institution: I have the honour to recommend to the consideration of His Excellency that the Normal School be closed as soon as practicable.

1. The number of the students being reduced to 6, the expense per head is extravagant;

The Colonial Secretary.
