analogous to that held by the Bishops in the disestablished Church of Ireland, and in most of the Anglican Churches in the British Colonies. But, as will be perceived from the enclosed letter, there are several somewhat difficult problems to be solved and delicate arrangements to be made, especially seeing that Bishop Burdon is not only a Missionary Bishop for the island of Hongkong, but also for a large portion of the vast Empire of China.

I am not at present in a position to give more outline of the important question under consideration; an outline which can be filled up in more detail when I shall have ascertained what action will probably be taken by the Anglican communion in this Colony. Meanwhile, I should be glad to be favoured with Your Lordship's views and wishes; and to be supplied with any practically useful information respecting the course that has been pursued...
