succumbed to general debility. There have been six deaths (including that of one of the hospital nurses) from undoubted Cholera, making fifteen deaths in all up to the present date. The Longhas (IE) still remains in quarantine, but there have been no fresh cases on board that vessel, or at the Station, during the last forty-eight (48) hours. Nor have there been any cases of cholera in the City of Dehra. It is hoped that the energetic measures taken by the Colonial Government on Green Island have proved useful in warding off an epidemic.

2. At the present time, it is agreed on all sides that common care for the public health of this Colony, as well as humanity towards the sick arriving here in vessels placed in quarantine, require the immediate erection on Green Island (or Green Islander's, but most likely referring to Green Island) of a permanent Lazaretto, without the long delay which would be rendered necessary by previous transmission of the plans and specifications for the consideration of the Colonial Office in London, and by waiting for a reply from that Office.
