In the present despatch
I desire to report that I have recently visited St Paul's College, and St Joseph's College, which are
partly supported
by the Government on the "Grant-in-aid" system, and are
managed
respectively, the first by the Anglican Bishop, (Dr. Burdon), and the second,
by the Roman Catholic Bishop, Monsignor Raimondi.

Both these Colleges
possess spacious and suitable
buildings

buildings, and appear to be well
managed.
Both educate the Chinese
as well as the European youth of the Colony
4.
I shall take another
opportunity of reporting
more
fully
respecting St Paul's (the Anglican)
College.
I now
subjoin a report,
extracted from the local newspapers, of
a visit which I paid
on the 13th
instant to St Joseph's (the Roman
Catholic) College. Addresses were
presented to me by the pupils in English, French, Italian, Portuguese
