3. The salary of the Superintendent is three thousand three hundred and sixty dollars. (#3360), Equivalent, at the present rate of exchange, to about six hundred and ten pounds ($610) sterling; together with quarters, coal, and gas. The pay and allowances may, therefore, be estimated as worth about eight hundred pounds ($800) per annum; a sum, which, it is believed, ought to secure the services of a thoroughly efficient and experienced Officer.
