public servants under writs of execution, I have the honor to transmit the subjoined report of the Attorney General, showing the state of the law in this matter in Hongkong:-

According to the law of this Colony the salaries of public servants are liable to attachment in execution of a decree of the Supreme Court. The attachment would be made by an order prohibiting the public servant from receiving and the Treasurer from passing the salary due, but this is done only with the consent of the Attorney General. I do not recollect any case of the kind having occurred since I have been here.

In cases of a public officer becoming bankrupt, the head of his department may officially sanction that a portion of his salary be paid to the Assignee in payment of the bankrupt's debts.
