In reply to your letter of yesterday's date asking my opinion on the advisability of maintaining the practice of compulsory medical examination under the Contagious Diseases Ordinances in this Colony,
that the House of Commons has pronounced against that system in the United Kingdom, I have the honour to submit the following observations:
(1) Sections 15 and 16 of the Imperial Act 1866 correspond with the law now in force in this Colony with regard to the compulsory medical
