This together with raising the pay of third Class Inspectors from sixty to seventy dollars a month, and of sergeants from forty five to fifty-two dollars a month $60 to $70, $45 to $52 would, after due regard has been given to the loss that experienced by the Government, should they exercise their privileges of remitting what they are entitled to, viz Fourteen hundred and thirty dollars a year, involve some increase, Eight hundred and fifty pounds a year, the compensation for this amount being the abolition of nearly all Police Remittance, together with correspondence and trouble attending thereon, and the removal of what is at present felt to be a great grievance.
