The Committee find that WASSENIUS is an old officer of the Brigade, that he gives his whole time to the Brigade and that his present salary, $55 per month, is very small as compared with others of his relative position outside the Service.

The Committee further find that a saving of $40 per month has been effected in the Establishment of the Fire Brigade by Mr. LEIGH's accepting the combined offices of Engineer and Assistant Superintendent.

Under these circumstances, the Committee recommend an increase to WASSENIUS' salary at the rate of $15 per month, with effect from the 1st January last.

The Committee finding that these Offices are very dark in the rainy season, and that it would be more economical to use gas instead of oil lamps, recommend that the amount be voted.
