Medical.
(1.) Read - A Minute by the Colonial Surgeon, dated the 19th instant, on a letter from the Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital, recommending that the salary of the Senior Wardmaster of the Hospital be increased from $35 to $50 per month.
The Committee finding that, in order to secure the services of an efficient man, it is necessary to increase the pay of the office, recommend an increase of $15 per month as suggested by the Colonial Surgeon, with effect from the 1st proximo.
Gaol.
C.S.D. 1252 of 1883. Increase of Turnkey.
(2.) Read: Letter No. 80 of the 25th instant, from the Acting Superintendent of the Gaol, recommending an increase of $5 per month to the salary of Assistant Turnkey E. ROCHA.
The Committee find that Rocha has been in the service since August, 1877, and that the increase recommended was allowed to his predecessor for extra services in connection with identifying old offenders, which duty, in addition to interpreting Spanish and Portuguese, is now performed by Rocha. The Committee therefore recommend the increase, with effect from the 1st proximo.
