As to No 3 charge, I have to express myself to show that I had never been to his house that day, as it was I who was invited by the owner of the Yat Luk Ring, Tam Sak Sing to attend a dinner given by members viz: European Officers, Sergeant Interpreters and Constables of the Police Force. If there be really such a case that Police officers were in the habit of receiving bribes, it is only after my time in the Police Force. I did not leave until midnight. It proves strongly that all the statements laid by either Mr Souza or Lam Soon in paragraph ... are absolutely incredible.
I heartily beg Your Honour to find out such ill practice of difficulty.
As to the final charge, I beg further to state that on the 14th May, I went to see a friend of mine, who is a dentist, to have one of my decayed teeth examined and treated for its pains, and did not return home till night. Nor did I give any information as to receiving bribes.
