In the evening of the 7th May at Mr. Souza's house inspector Cameron, who had by arrangement gone to Mr. Souza's house that evening, devoted himself in goodwill conversation and overheard a conversation in the course where Sam Zak-ni mentioned that his friend intended giving him, Sam Pak-ming, a handsome rickshaw for his action in the matter, that he had often received bribes himself; and that he was aware that other members of the force were in the habit of receiving bribes from Gambling houses and Lottery Agencies.
On the 14th May, Sam Pak-mi again visited Souza at his house accompanied by two Chinese friends who brought with them presents consisting of edibles and wine. Souza ordered their servants to take away their presents, which they did.
Other charges fabricated by the Colonial Secretary to Mr. Sam Pak-mi in the usual course, in accordance with the Colonial Regulations, in reply. Lam Pak-mi denied.
