2. To action had been taken on the despatch No85. I am glad that a Barrister will be appointed to the vacant Magistracy, as was recommended by the Judges of the Supreme Court, and by the Attorney-General. It is better for Ms. Jockhar personally, as well as for the public Service, that he should be appointed Assistant Colonial Secretary, as strongly recommended by my despatch No85 of the 24th May instant.
