The Official Administrator always communicates as soon as possible with the relatives or friends of the intestates and since 1873 only one apparently European Estate of any value has been left in the Treasury unclaimed, namely that of James Edward Toppin, to whose estate there stands a balance of $1,791.45.
I am informed that there are several sums in the hands of the Official Trustee which were paid over to him in the years 1874 and 1875 by the liquidation of Dent and Company and that he is unable to find the persons entitled to these sums.
Under these circumstances advertisements would, I think, be of little avail, and I am at present considering what steps should be taken respecting them.
