Lucretary of State's Despatch PP. 55 of 7th March last
I beg to express my regret for not having added my observations when the explanations of Sir Stewart and Captain Deans, which were forwarded to the Secretary of State by my Despatch P. 271 of 19th December, 1882. Captain Deans' explanations were replied to by a memorandum of the Acting Colonial Secretary, a copy of which I forwarded, that it did not seem to me that there was anything I could usefully add.
