may be pleased to meet the wishes
of the Secretary of
expressed desires with regard to the provision of an Ordinance of the nature of a private bill to expropriate the owners of all lots of Land which are desirable for Military purposes.
I am to mention that the Major General Commanding considers that it is of the first importance, both Military and Sanitary point of view, that all land in private hands within the Cantonments should be purchased by the War Department, but up to the present no purchase
has been able to be effected owing
to the exorbitant prices asked
by the owners.
(25) F. Warden Major.
Assistant Military Secretary.
